Kournikova ends losing streak

Anna Kournikova ended a five-match losing streak on Tuesday with a first round win in the Seat Open. The fourth seeded Russian beat Jana Kandar 6-2 7-5 in the Luxembourg tournament. Meanwhile in Austria, USA's Alexandra Stevenson beat Spain's Christina Torrens Valero 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 in the Generali Ladies Linz WTA indoor tournament. Kournikova's win was her first since coming back last month from a stress fracture of her left foot which has kept her out of action for most of the season. Hard-fought match She now faces Slovak teenager Daniela Hantuchova who defeated German qualifier Andrea Glass 6-4 6-4. The Russian will be joined by American doubles specialist Lisa Raymond who won a hard-fought match with Spain's Marta Marrero. The Wimbledon and US Open doubles champion won in three sets, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4. In other results, Anabel Medina Garrigues and Jennifer Hopkins also progressed to the second round. In Austria, Iroda Tuljyaganova, Daja Bedanova, Ai Sugiyama and Elena Likhovtseva all join Stevenson in the second round in Linz.
