Monica Seles defeated Len Nemeckova 6-0 6-0 in the first round of the Shanghai Open on Tuesday.

Seles took just 42 minutes to defeat her Czech opponent and has now won 11 straight matches since her fourth-round defeat at last month's US Open.

"It was one of those days when you can't do anything wrong," said Seles. "Those types of days are what you work toward."

The top seed is hoping for her third consecutive tournament win following victories in the Brazil and Japan Opens.

"I've been very surprised by my play," added Seles.
