Doubles delight for glamour couple
Kournikova and Hingis
The second seeds took their first title of the year
Martina Hingis and Anna Kournikova overcame their disappointing singles performances to take the women's doubles crown at the Kremlin Cup in Moscow.

The second seeds beat Russian duo Elena Dementieva and Lina Krasnorutskaya 7-6 6-3 to claim their first title of the year.

Hingis went out of the singles to Dementieva in the last eight while Kournikova lost to fellow Russian Galina Fokina in the first round.

Kournikova was playing only her third singles match in almost nine months and went to hospital after the defeat to Fokina to have her foot checked.

Injury lay-off

"Obviously, in doubles you don't have to run as much as in singles, so my foot is okay for the moment," said Kournikova.

"But I have to be careful after such a long injury lay-off, that's why I went to hospital just to make sure that everything is all right."

Kournikova confirmed after the doubles final that she would continue playing with Hingis into next year.

"We are scheduled to play in three more tournaments this year, in Filderstadt, Zurich and Linz, as well as next January at the Australian Open."
