Kafelnikov powers into Moscow final
Kafelnikov had no trouble against Haas
Top seed Yevgeny Kafelnikov delighted the Russian crowd by easing into the final of the Kremlin Cup with a two-set victory over Germany's Tommy Haas on Saturday.
Local favourite Kafelnikov took just over an hour to dismiss the fourth seed 6-1 6-2 at the $1m ATP event in Moscow. The defending champion will now face unseeded German Nicolas Kiefer in the final on Sunday. Kafelnikov, a four-time winner at the tournament, raced to a 5-0 lead in the opening set before allowing his opponent a point. The 27-year-old took the set 6-1 and gave his opponent no chance of equalising in the second, breaking Haas twice to clinch the set 6-2 and to book his place in the final. Kiefer's route was a little more difficult in the other semi-final, beating Slovakia's Dominik Hrbaty 6-4 6-3 earlier on Saturday.
