Clijsters faces Maleeva test
Magdalena Maleeva
Maleeva caused an upset by beating Nathalie Tauziat
Kim Clijsters and Bulgarian Magdalena Maleeva will meet in the final of the Leipzig Grand Prix on Sunday after winning their semi-finals.

Top seed Clijsters needed three sets to overcome the challenge of Russia's Elena Dementieva.

The 18-year-old Belgian, who is the defending champion, won the first set by a comfortable 6-1 margin.

Seventh seed Dementieva established a rhythm to take the second 6-3 before Clijsters reasserted her control to win the decider 6-1.

Sixth seed Maleeva upset French second seed Nathalie Tauziat, also in three sets.

Tauziat won this event in 1999 but was let down against Maleeva by her inconsistent serve.

The 34-year-old Frenchwoman fought back after losing the first set 6-4 and took the second by the same score.

But Maleeva, who had not beaten Tauziat since 1993, prevailed in the deciding set to win it 6-3.
