Moya falls at first hurdle
Carlos Moya in action
Carlos Moya struggled to find any rhythm in Sicily
Second seed Carlos Moya saw his hopes of glory in the Sicily International dashed in the first round by David Nalbandian of Argentina.

The world number 20, who lost the first set, clawed his way back into the contest in the second before falling 6-2 4-6 6-3 in the last major clay tournament of the year.

Four other seeds added to Moya's woe by easily advancing to the next round.

Tommy Robredo, one of five Spaniards seeded in the top five, beat his compatriot German Puentes 6-3 6-0.

Never got to grips

The fourth seed was joined in the second round by Spaniard Galo Blanco, seeded eighth, as well as Sweden's Andreas Vinciguerra, the sixth seed.

Italy's Federico Luzzi, Argentina's Mariano Zabaleta and Spain's David Sanchez also progressed.

Britain's Jamie Delgado crashed out of the in the first round.

Delgado never got to grips with fifth seed Albert Costa and could manage only one game in the second set as he suffered a 6-3 6-1 reverse.

It is another blow for Delgado who was overlooked for Britain's triumphant Davis Cup trip to Ecuador.
