Henman eases into the third round at Indianapolis
British number one Tim Henman powered past Romania's Adrian Voinea to secure a place in the third round of the RCA Championships in Indianapolis.

The number six seed was untroubled as he cruised to a 6-3 6-2 victory and will now face Mariano Zabaleta, after the Argentine edged America's Kevin Kim 6-4 2-6 7-5.

Henman has faced Zableta five times previously on the ATP tour, with the South American holding a 3-2 advantage.

Importantly for Henman though, his two victories came on hardcourts.

Hewitt victory
Elsewhere, Lleyton Hewitt came out victorious again when he knocked Taylor Dent out of the championships.

The third seed beat the hard-hitting American 6-2 7-6 in a repeat of their second round match at Wimbledon in June.

This time the Australian did not need five sets, winning comfortably in just 73 minutes to progress to the third round.

Hewitt began competently, but tailed off during second set before storming back to take the tie-breaker.

"I didn't consolidate well, and he came back with a fight," he said. "But in the tie-breaker I was able to get out."

Confidence is high for 20-year-old Hewitt, who reached the semi-finals of the Master in Cincinnati last week.

And fifth-seed Patrick Rafter followed his compatriot into the next round after an easy 6-2 6-0 victory over the Czech Republic's Michel Tabara.

Other seeds through to the third round included ninth seed Thomas Johansson, who beat Belgian Xavier Malisse 3-6 6-1 6-4, and Jonas Bjorkman, who accounted for 13th seed Hicham Arazi 6-4 6-4.

Top-seeded Gustavo Kuerten, of Brazil, beat Israel's Noam Okun 6-4 6-3.
