Ivanisevic on his way
Goran Ivanisevic
Goran Ivanisevic is still inspired by his Wimbledon win
Wimbledon winner Goran Ivanisevic wasted little time in beating Fernando Meligeni in the first round of the RCA Championships in Indianapolis.

The Croatian, who admits his confidence remains sky-high following his Grand Slam success, needed just 65 minutes to beat his Brazilian opponent.

"Now that I've achieved my goals in tennis, everything else is a bonus," said Ivanisevic.

"It doesn't really matter how I win. I can still wake up and play a bad match, but I'm always eager to win now every time I'm on court."

Ivanisevic had lost in the first round of his last three appearances here but always looked too strong for Meligeni.

He will now meet last year's surprise Wimbledon semi-finalist Vladimir Voltchkov of Belarus, who beat American Glenn Weiner 7-6 3-6 6-0.

Tim Henman, who had a first round bye, will face Adrian Voinea in the second round after the Romanian beat Canadian Sebastien Lareau 7-6 6-1.

The 11th seed, Montreal Masters winner Andrei Pavel also advanced. The Romanian beat local hopeful Mardy Fish 6-4, 5-7, 6-1.

American Michael Russell, who held a match point against Gustavo Kuerten at the French Open before losing, ousted Sargis Sargsian of Armenia 6-2 6-4.

Nicolas Escude, the 14th-seeded Frenchman, defeated former Harvard student James Blake 6-3 6-3.

Spain's Tommy Robredo, seeded 16th, beat Austrian Stefan Koubek 7-5 6-1, while the second of the big Belarus Bashers, Max Mirnyi, stopped Australian showman Andrew Ilie 6-4 6-4.
