Swiss triumph for Gersi
Adriana Gersi strikes another forceful backhand
Gersi's win will not have pleased too many locals
The Czech Republic's Adriana Gersi has won the PreCon Ladies Open after beating local favourite Marie-Gaiane Mikaelian.

Gersi, ranked 108 in the WTA standings, cruised to a straight sets 6-4 6-1 win over her 17-year-old opponent to claim her first WTA title.

Mikaelian struggled throughout to contend with the agility, aggression and speed of Gersi.

Although Mikaelian battled hard to stay in touch in the opening set, she seemed tired in the second set, winning just the single game.

The Swiss wildcard, ranked 175 in the WTA standings, had impressed in the earlier rounds.

She beat top-seeded Silvia Farina in the opening round and Daniela Hantuchova in the quarter-finals.
