Vicente triumphs in Colombian Open
![]() Vincente takes his third career title in Bogota
Spain's Fernando Vicente, seeded second, won the first clay court title of the season on Sunday when he beat Argentina's Juan Ignacio Chela, the third seed, 6-4 7-6 (8-6) in the final of the Colombian Open.
It was the third career title for the Spaniard - and the third on clay after Merano in 1999 and Casablanca last year. Vicente is the second Spanish champion in Bogota after Francisco Clavet in 1997. By defeating Chela he denied Argentina a third consecutive title in Colombia's capital: Mariano Zabaleta and Mariano Puerta had been the champions on the previous two occasions. The doubles, however, was a triumph for Argentina, as Mariano Hood and Sebastian Prieto won the title with a 6-2 6-4 win over countryman Martin Rodriguez and Brazil's Andre Sa.
