Becker slams Masters Cup
![]() Becker won the season-ending event three times
Three-times Wimbledon champion Boris Becker has dismissed the year-ending Masters Cup as a meaningless tournament.
"The Masters Cup in Lisbon is merely an exhibition with plenty of prize money," said the 33-year-old German "The draw of this tournament used to be on the front page of the newspapers. "This time I have to look hard on the videotext to get some information. That says it all." Becker, who is now involved in sports marketing since retiring from competitive tennis, won the season-ending event in 1988, 1992 and 1995. The top eight players of 2000 will fight it out for the right to be crowned the world's number one.
