Italy 3-2 Poland - by Sean McCann
What a way to end a spectacle like the Homeless World Cup with such a
spectacular match between Italy and Poland.
Poland explode on to the pitch like greyhounds out of a trap after a hare but Italy's defence was like a brick wall that Poland could not penetrate. Then by a stroke of luck the ball rolls under the Polish goalkeeper's foot into the back of the net giving the Italians the lead.
The crowd was going ape as Poland went back on the attack but they just couldn't get through the iron defence of the Italian squad. Half-time arrives and the Polish fans were on their feet chanting and
singing their hearts out trying to give Poland that extra boost, and it seemed to work.
After Italy put away the ball from a penalty, Poland instantly respond with a fantastic shot from the Italian left corner. Unfortunately for Poland they miss an open goal, and Italy spring
out of nowhere like a jack-in-the-box to go two ahead again.
Poland weren't disheartened as their fans were on their feet cheering them on. They
steam the ball past the Italian goalkeeper to pull one back. It isn't enough and the final whistle blows with the score Italy 3 - 2 Poland.
