Manchester United's Jonathan Spector
BBC Sport has teamed up with the Foyer Federation to bring you the best sports reports from budding young journalists around the country.

Tackling Skills is a project that gives Foyers residents the chance to work with BBC sports journalists to help develop their literacy and communication skills by using sport to inspire, motivate and re-engage them .

Here's a selection of reports from the Manchester Senior Cup as Manchester United faced Oldham Athletic.

Angela Brookes

Manchester United fielded the stronger team and dominated the whole game against Oldham Athletic who failed to get control of the ball.

It was a slow start with the first goal coming from Oldham after 30 minutes and followed by a great goal from United's Jonathan Spector just before half-time.

In the second half things started to brighten up for United, a goal was scored after just two minutes of play by Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, with a continous stream of goals bringing Manchester United a fabulous 5-1 victory.

My man of the match was Ebanks-Blake who played a great game, setting an inspiration to the whole team with his excellent performance on the pitch.

David Thomas

Manchester United had problems with a weak formation in the first half of this game with Scott Vernon scoring after 30 minutes followed by a messy foul after which the crowd appealed for a booking.

After 40 minutes Jonathan Spector scored for United, bringing the score to 1-1 just before the second half.

The Reds got their act together in the second half, dominating the field with Mads Timm scoring in the 47th minute followed by a series of impressive scores that brought a 5-1 victory for United.

It looked to me at one point like Kieran Richardson was limping but he was my man-of-the-match with a strong fourth goal.

Georga Makin

It was 30 minutes before Oldham scored the first goal in this match with the Reds running rings around them for the rest of the night. Manchester United reserves dominated the second half of this game, bringing the score from 1-1 to a 5-1 victory.

The main goal scorer was Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, scoring a double for the Reds, but the man-of-the-match award goes to Richardson who scored the fourth goal and demonstrated great talent for the future.

Paul Croston Two goals were knocked into Oldham's poorly defended net by striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake after missing a one-on-one strike in the first half.

There were good performances by Chicago born, Jonathon Spector, Chris Eagles and Kieran Richardson.

After a poor first half from United they managed to get four more goals in the second half when they managed more possession.

Mads Timm who played well throughout the match managed to tap one in to make it 3-1.

Both teams played a few substitutes which did not have a great deal of an affect on the match at all with United continuing to dominate the whole game.

A weak performance from Oldham player Chris Taylor with a few doubted tackles but despite this an all round friendly performance between the two teams.
