Are Germany worthy hosts of 2006?

Fifa's decision to give the 2006 World Cup to Germany has sparked jubilant scenes among their organising committee - but do they deserve to stage the finals?

Germany pipped South Africa in a third round ballot by just one vote, with England being eliminated in the second round after Morocco failed to make it over the first hurdle.

There are many who feel South Africa - and the African continent in general - should have been given the chance to stage the finals.

After all, Africa has never hosted the World Cup and West Germany had the chance as recently as 1974.

However, security fears seem to have cast too much of a shadow across the South African bid and Fifa delegates ultimately went with a tried a trusted venue.

Do you think Germany should have been awarded the finals in 2006? Let us know now.
