Are you positive about Berti's boys?
Berti Vogts will hope for an improvement on the 5-0 defeat to France
Scotland manager Berti Vogts sees his side beaten at home by Nigeria.

Were you impressed by any of the new faces on show?

HAVE YOUR SAY

Vogts handed first caps to no less than seven players and a further three men were making just their second appearance in dark blue.

The inexperienced Scots pushed the Nigerians all the way and Vogts hailed the game as a 'great night for Scottish football'.

As Vogts continues to experiment to find the players he feels are good enough to take Scotland to Euro 2004, he has stressed that results may have to be sacrificed.

Are you happy with Berti's boys?

At last a manager who is willing to take risks!!
Michael, Scotland

I am very happy with Scotland's performance against Nigeria. The only bad thing about the whole game was no doubt Nigeria's equaliser. I think it just needs a few games for the defence to gel and get to grips with each others style.

It was an entertaining and very promising performance
Roy, Scotland

The worst thing Berti can do is change the line up for our next game against Denmark in August.
Richard Irvine, Scotland

Credit to Berti for having Scotland play an aggressive, attacking game from the off. The fact we didn't have the savvy to keep it going after the first 20 minutes is not unexpected.

I was well impressed with Williams, a midfield general of the future, and McNaughton - Pat Nevin with pace! O'Connor could also be an answer to the striking problems of the last five years or so.

I wish the SFA would play more games in Aberdeen. The fans up here are fervently passionate in their patriotism and forget club loyalties to get behind the team. How about a qualifier next time?
Gordon McRae, Scotland

It was an entertaining and very promising performance from a young and inexperienced side. I thought we played with confidence and energy. I feel putting faith in the youngsters will pay huge dividends in the future. Roll on 2004!
Roy, Scotland

Well done Berti for giving the young guys a chance
Andy, Scotland

All in all a good sign for the future. If they can keep this up and get together as a team then I think Scotland will be at the next couple of championships. First plane home as usual, but at least we'll be there!

It was obvious at the start of the game that Vogts had them tuned to shutting down the opposition quickly after the grubbing in France. They did that job fairly well to begin with, and the first goal was as a result of a poor defensive error, but over the summer they will learn to play with each other and understand each others moves so those kinds of mistakes should hopefully reduce.
Graham, Edinburgh

This result along with the performance is better than when they played against France. If they can play well enough then they will be the force to be reckoned with once again.
George Nipah, England

Well done Berti for giving the young guys a chance. It will be several years before we build a team capable of competing with the best. What we really need most of all is a good striker or someone who can consistently score goals. The absence of such a player is the difference between having an average team or a great team.

We also need the Old Firm to get serious about youth development and work with the SFA to bring about a new holistic and effective youth development strategy where talent at all ages can be developed.
Andy, Scotland
