Ruud van Nistelrooy's 33 goals for Manchester United have seen the Dutchman named as Professional Footballers' Association Players' Player of the Year.

Newcastle's Craig Bellamy took the Young Player of the Year award, but only Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Bridge made its Premiership XI.

Fulham's Steve Finnan is one of three Irish internationals named in the team, while Arsenal trio Patrick Vieira, Robert Pires and Thierry Henry are all voted in.

Do you agree with the choices? E-mail us with your ultimate Premiership XI.

This team quite simply would beat any team in the world: 1.Dudek, 2.Ashley Cole, 3.Hyypia, 4.Campbell, 5.Beckham, 6.Giggs, 7.Keane, 8.Pires, 9.Van Nistelrooy, 10.Henry, 11.Hasselbaink.
Oz, UK

Doesn't Alan Shearer deserve a place as the leading English goal-scorer in the Premiership this season? That's despite missing several weeks through injury.
Pete, Glasgow, Scotland

My Premier 11 would be:
GK: Dudek
LB: Carragher
CB: Hyypia
CB: Desailly
RB: G Neville
LM: Pires
RM: Becks
CM: Vieira
CM: Gerrard
CF: Anelka
CF: Henry

Anelka may not have many goals, but his work rate is unbelievable. Quite frankly, Andy Cole scored 30 a season with Man Utd, as many strikers can with Becks and Giggs creating.

So Nistelrooy, as good as he may be, doesn't get in. Dudek is one of the best in the world, and Hyypia and Desailly are untouchable.
Stephen, Liverpool, England

Jerzy Dudek; Lauren, Gareth Southgate, Sol Campbell, Ashley Cole; Freddie Ljungberg, Patrick Vieira, Robert Pires, Laurent Robert; Jimmy Hasselbaink, Thierry Henry
Charlie, England

The lack of English players is a worry
Kris Withereington, London, UK

The Players' vote seems pretty fair, and there are only a few changes I'd make: Dudek instead of Given, Mills instead of Finnan and Riise instead of Bridge. It is also close between Henry and Hasselbaink, as both have been outstanding. But Henry gets the nod for the number of chances he has created for others in addition to his own goals.

The lack of English players is a worry, but most of the top English players have missed a lot of games through injury or suffered a lack of form at times.
Kris Withereington, London, UK

The PFA have again got it wrong with the selections in key areas. Here are my best players this year (if they were picked in their correct positions): GK Cudicini; LB Riise, CB Terry, CB Hyypia, RB Stockdale; LM Pires, CM Vieira, CM Malbranque, RM Solano; STR Henry, STR Van Nistelrooy.
Si, Northern Ireland

1. Cudicini (Chelsea)
2. Ferdinand (Leeds)
3. Hyypia (Liverpool)
4. Terry (Chelsea)
5. Gallas (Chelsea)
6. Bowyer (Leeds)
7. Giggs (Man Utd)
8. Vieira (Arsenal)
9. Pires (Arsenal)
10. Van Nistelrooy
11. Hasselbaink.
Rob Batterbee, Wales

I'd have either Cudicini or Dudek in goal
Asif, UK

My team would be: Cudicini; Weir, Ferdinand, Riggot, Riise; Beckham (for his England exploits alone), Hamman, Gerrard, Pires; Hasselbaink and Henry. I can't see how Danny Mills get in the Leeds team, let the alone PFA and England sides.
David, UK

Dudek; Finnan, Hyypia, Ferdinand, Bridge; Giggs, Keane, Vieira, Pires; Hasselbaink, Van Nistelrooy.
Seamus, Ireland

Cudicini; Bridge, Carragher, Southgate; Beckham, Pires, Ljunberg, Keane; Hasselbaink, Van Nistelrooy. I think that Pires deserved the award more than Van the Man though.
Paul D, England

My team of the year would be: Dudek; Bridge, Hyypia, Gallas, Carragher; Giggs, Murphy, Keane, Pires; Hasslebank and Van Nistelrooy
Lawrence Poole, England

The Premiership XI would have to be:
GK: Dudek
RB: Lauren
CB: Hyypia
CB: Campbell
LB: Carragher
RW: Beckham
CM: Vieira
CM: Ljungberg
LW: Riise
CF: Bellamy
CF: Van Nistelrooy.
Andrew, Scotland

My Premiership XI is: Cudicini; Harte, Hyypia, Campbell, Finnan; Pires, Vieira, Robert, Duff; Hasselbaink and Van Nistelrooy
Alastair, Oman

What a joke - Pires is the best player in the league by a long way. Anyone can score goals if they have Beckham and Scholes with them. Solskjaer is a better finisher than Nistelrooy
Gary, UK

The team is quite reflective of the Premiership's leading players, but I'd have either Cudicini or Dudek in goal. Also, it's good to see Beckham is not included as his name usually gets a mention without any thought.

The team is a bit unbalanced with two left wingers, but Pires would be expected to play the right if this was an actual team as he's more versatile than the one-foot wonder from Man Utd.

Pires was robbed of PFA Player of the Year, I hope he gets the Football Writers Prize as that's more esteemed.
Asif, UK

Although Van Nistelrooy has been superb, the award should have gone to the mercurial Robert Pires. Is there some law that prevents non-Man Utd players from picking up the award?

Last year it was Sheringham, and before that Keane who somehow got the award ahead of Phillips, who was the top scorer in Europe!

My Premiership XI is: Cudicini; Harte, Hyypia, Campbell, Finnan; Pires, Vieira, Robert, Duff; Hasselbaink and Van Nistelrooy
Alastair, Oman

I am disappointed that Henry or Pires did not get the award
Alex Cross, Ireland

I can't see how you could possibly get any better than the following starting XI:

Dudek; Riise, Hyypia, Terry, Silvestre; Robert, Vieira, Beckham, Pires; Henry, Van Nistelrooy.
Stephen Beer, Scotland

As an Arsenal fan I am disappointed that Henry or Pires did not get the award, but I cannot deny the quality of the United striker. Henry is a better all round footballer between goals scored and assists - Ruud doesn't even make it onto the official list of assists - but the Dutchman is a lethal finisher.

If he could get into the positions Henry does then he would be close to 40 goals. Fair play to him after his cruciate knee injury, hopefully Pires can recover just as well.

Hopefully this will be the only piece of domestic silverware going to Old Trafford this season!
Alex Cross, Ireland

Van der Sar; Riise, Hyypia, Ferdinand, Carragher; Beckham, Keane, Pires, Giggs; Van Nistelrooy and Henry. That wouldn't be a bad team!
Alex Allen, England

If I had to pick a couple of players who came close, Dennis Bergkamp, Scott Parker and Steve Finnan would be on the verge
Paul, UK

Cudicini; Carragher, Hyypia, Campbell, Bridge; Pires, Vieira, Keane, Giggs; Henry and Hasselbaink. SUBS: Seaman, Ferdinand, Beckham, Gerrard, Van Nistelrooy
Adam, England

Premiership XI: Dudek; Bridge, Southgate, Hyypia, G. Neville; Beckham, Keane, Giggs, Pires; Van Nistelrooy, and Hasslebaink
Liam Evans, England

Dudek; Finnan, Ferdinand, Hyypia, Rise; Beckham, Gerrard, Viera, Pires; Van Nistelrooy and Henry. Subs: Owen, Carragher, Given, Ljungberg, Henchoz
Jane, Australia

My Premirship XI: Jerzy Dudek; Gary Neville, Sami Hyypia, Stephan Henchoz, Wayne Bridge; Robert Pires, Roy Keane, Patrick Vieira, David Beckham; Ruud Van Nistrlrooy, Jimmy Floyd Hasslebank.
Bill Martin, England

My Premiership XI would have to be:
Dudek (Liverpool)
Mills (Leeds)
Campbell (Arsenal)
Hyypia (Liverpool)
Bridge (Southampton)
Keane (Man Utd)
Vieira (Arsenal)
Pires (Arsenal)
Hasselbaink (Chelsea)
Henry (Arsenal)
Van Nistelrooy (Man U).
Kristian Ward, England

I cannot understand how JFH and Marcel Desailly did not make the Premiership XI
Chris Jolly, UK

I'd say: Dudek; Silvestre, Hyypia, Ferdinand, Bridge; Pires, Keane, Beckham, Vieira; Van Nistelrooy, Henry.
Chris Handley, Manchester, England

I cannot understand how JFH and Marcel Desailly did not make the Premiership XI. Rio is a good player but he is not in Marcel's class yet!
Chris Jolly, UK

Cudicini; Lauren, Ferdinand, Hyypia, Riise; Pires, Vieira, Bowyer, Le Saux; Viduka, Van Nistelrooy.
Nick Brand, UK

My team of the year is: goalkeeper: Dean Kiely. Defenders: Wayne Bridge, Sami Hyypia, Sol Campbell, Gary Neville. Midfielders: Steven Gerrard, David Beckham, Roy Keane, Robert Pires. Strikers: Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Thierry Henry

If I had to pick a couple of players who came close, then Dennis Bergkamp, Scott Parker and Steve Finnan would be on the verge.
Paul, UK

Dudek; Hyypia, Ferdinand, Bridge, Mills; Keane, Beckham, Pires, Anderton; Henry and Van Nistelrooy. Patrick Vieira has not played as well in the first half of the season as he should have done - with Sloppy passing and a lack of aggression. Jerzy Dudek has easily been the best keeper and Beckham has played equally as well as any midfielder.
Aaron, England

GK - Given
LB - Bridge
RB - Lauren
CB - Campbell
CB - Ferdinand
LM - Pires
CM - Vieira
CM - Keane
RM - Ljungberg
CF - Henry
CF - Van Nistelrooy.
George, Seychelles
