Gerard Houllier is recovering in hospital after undergoing 11 hours of emergency open heart surgery.

Gerard Houllier is expected to remain in intensive care for the next few days after undergoing open heart surgery.

Houllier suffered from a condition known as dissection of the aorta, and it has now become clear that swift action probably saved his life.

BBC Sport Online is giving you the chance to send your messages of goodwill to the man who led Liverpool to a unique cup treble last season.

Your messages will be passed on to the Royal Liverpool Hospital, where Houllier is recovering.
