Sinister side to Freddie the Fox?
Freddie the Fox (left) showed the form of a champion hurdler
Freddie the Fox - unmasked as Olympic hurdler Matthew Douglas - has been disqualified from winning the Mascot Grand National.

Has the sly fox cost the event future support aimed at raising money for charity?

Freddie the Fox trounced all opposition in the Mascot Grand National at Huntingdon, but the ease of his victory immediately set tongues wagging.

After the race, rumours circulated that the fox was part of a betting coup by a professional gambler, prompting an official inquiry.

Freddie's odds were dramatically slashed from 33-1 to 10-1 prior to the fun event, and the organisation he represents, the Countryside Appreciation Group, does not to exist.

This year's scandal is bound to prompt changes to future events of this kind. Betting companies that ran a book on this race may be hesitant to do so again next year.

Will the Freddie fiasco turn punters away from a family day of fun?

How did Tommy T from Gillingham get on? Does anyone know?
Rachel, UK

I think it is very sad that a charity event can be upset like this. The damage is done and I believe instead of not supporting the event next year, the companies should just make sure it doesn't happen again.
Daniel, UK
