Who is king of the heavyweights?
Who is King of the heavyweights?
Lennox Lewis' shock fifth round defeat by Hasim Rahman has put a cat among the pigeons in boxing's top division.

Many thought that Lewis was the best around, but following events in South Africa, there are now serious doubts.

How long can Rahman hold onto his titles?

Can Mike Tyson claim the world title 15 years after he was first crowned?

Who do you think is the best heavyweight around? HAVE YOUR SAY

Lennox Lewis may have a rematch clause with Hasim Rahman, but the smart money seems to be on Rahman opting for a big money showdown with Mike Tyson.

The Ukranian Klitscho brothers would count themselves as among the best heavyweights on the planet.

Perhaps WBA Champion John Ruiz might get a shot at unifying the titles?

Does Audley Harrison have what it takes to mix it with the biggest names in boxing, has he got the talent to take the title?

Kirk Johnson ranks highly on the list of contenders for a title fight, has the "Canadian Hope" the ability to extend his unbeaten record?

Who do you think will end up with the belts? Who is the best heavyweight in the world?

Tell us what you think. HAVE YOUR SAY

Lennox let his fans down. It took a hundred years for the title to come back to England and he threw it away. He should have sent the championship belts back to the states by courier and saved himself a trip. He didnt try, and there is no way now that the yanks are going to let him get the belts back. To lose to a bum like that was sheer stupidity and arrogance.
Leslie davies, Canada

I think it's funny how all the Brits think that Lewis is one of the best ever. Who is the best fighter he's ever beaten? An aging Holyfield. I'm not impressed.
Nat, USA
Many doubt Rahman would have lived with Ali or Frazier
Many doubt Rahman would have lived with Ali or Frazier

I think Rahman is deserving of his victory. If Lewis failed to prepare properly for the bout he deserved to lose and if he did prepare properly, it proves Rahman has the ability to make a noise on the heavyweight scene.
Matthew Viney, England

Alot of people are underestimating Rahman's victory over Lewis and many say it was a lucky punch. The man trained hard, did his preparation did his homework and came on top. Lewis said he was in good shape and was prepared for his fight, so did Steward.

Many have even said that Rahman and Ruiz are of the same level, both loosing to Tua and Rahman getting knocked out by Oleg. To those people, I ask, Have you seen Tua v Rahman, or Rahman v Oleg?? Rahman was clearly winning in both fights but due to stamina problems lost. And we all know the stoppage in the Tua fight was a complete farce. Rahman is a very good fighter and if he remains focused he is going to surprise us all, just like he did in South Africa.
Archet Taylot, US

Without a doubt the World's best heavyweight fighter is Mike Tyson. As soon as anyone beats anyone else the first name on everyone's lips is Mike Tyson.

He's had a rough time and been let down by people that should have been looking after him, but I believe that were he to go punch for punch (not head to head as per Holyfield) Mike Tyson would win every time!
Neville Williams, England

The current heavyweight division is a joke
  Stewart, England
Lewis will never regain his titles. Rahman will fight Tyson next and will lose, probably in three rounds. Afterwards Tyson will probably not fight Lewis and even if he did Lewis has proven he has a glass jaw and will not live with Tyson's more powerful and accurate shots. You rarely see a heavyweight boxer not beat a first count, most are at least standing by eight. Lewis has failed twice.
Justin Thomas, Wales

Lewis is still one of the best in the world, but the future of the division lies with the Klitchko brothers. Both have the ability and power to stop any of the other heavyweights in the division, especially Tyson who is way past it. Its obvious they are talented as none of the the top heavyweights want to fight them!
Andrew, UK

The current heavyweight division is a joke. Ali, Frazier, Norton and Foreman would eat this lot for breakfast and quite frankly I can't see anyone rising to the top!
Stewart, England

What's all this talk about arrogance? As a general rule, boxers are the most arrogant people in the world. Even Evander Holyfield confidenly predicted wins and the rounds in which he would knock out his opponent. Lewis got beat by Rahman, not by himself as others keep trying to persuade us and themselves.
Joey, UK

Wladimir Klitschko
Wladimir Klitschko: "could be the best"
Rahman is definately one of the contenders. Like he said on the BBC broadcast he one of "boxings nice guys" so I hope he beats Tyson and a few other fighters. I wouldn't say he is the best but I wish him luck!
Abdel H Chachi, UK

Lewis is obviously one of the best boxers around, but commercial interests are killing many promising youngsters. When will we ever get a unified champion who fights the best challengers around?
Ian, Belgium

The discussion will continue to centre on US and UK fighters as long as the TV networks control the heavy weight division. Fighters like Brian Nielsen (60-1-0) and the Klitschko's will never get the chance to show their real worth. The whole discussion is therefore rather academic.
A Wolf, London, UK

Wladimir Klitschko could be the best. He just needs the chance to prove it.
Ems, US

It's a good job Lewis didn't fight tyson in the shape he was against Rhamn, because it wouldn't have gone past the third round. If Rahman fights Tyson it could be the shortest fight in history. He only beat Lewis because Lewis wasn't in shape. Tyson will be, and will knock rahman out without breaking sweat.
Mathew Wood, UK

It's possibly the most muddled state in the history of the division
  Philip Morgan, USA
Talk of Rahman as the new 'best in the world' may be somewhat premature. What he did do was revive some interest in the heavyweight division, which was in danger of becoming very stale while Tyson and Lewis seemed unable to outbox the TV networks. While Lewis, in my opinion, is still the best all-rounder out there, one punch really can change everything with the heavyweights. With luck this shock will jolt the division back to life - hopefully with Lewis facingTyson still somewhere down the road.
Mark Leech, England

Hasim Rahman didn't really win the fight against Lewis, it was more a case of Lewis losing the fight by leaving himself open for the big punch. I think Rahman will fight Tyson next and get blown away. Tyson will then spend the next few years fighting anyone but Lewis and make as much money as possible.
Paco, Spain

Hasim Rahman is neither technically nor physically the best boxer out there. One thing for sure though is that his focus and concentration was far better than Lennox Lewis', and as Lewis demonstrated, a small lapse in concentration can have huge consequences!
Rahul Patel, England

I am delighted for Lennox. It will show him he is not what he thought he was
  Kevin Nelmes, UK
The best heavyweight around at the moment is Mike Tyson. Lewis's loss to Rahman surely proves this. Lennow Lewis has always had a glass chin. Talk of him being the greatest since Ali is farcical. All the greats like Ali, Frazier, Marciano and Dempsey could get up off the canvas Lewis can't. Rahman has already lost to Tua and Maskaev who are two average heavyweights. This leaves Tyson, although he is only a shadow of the man who beat Trevor Berbick for the title in 1986. Boxing needs a new hero, someone in the mould of the old Iron Mike.
Ciaran, Ireland

I am delighted for Lennox. It will show him he is not what he thought he was. It may even make him a better fighter. I can see him fighting on, he is a battler, Fight on "Lennie the Lion."
Kevin Nelmes, UK

I think we need to look to the new wave of heavyweight boxers coming through the ranks. The three main fighters on the circuit at the moment aren't really fighters of the future. Rahman is a flash in the pan, he will be forgotten in a years time. Tyson is a street fighter, nothing more and Lewis is too old, and too unfit. Of all the new British boxers, Audley Harrison strikes me as a good talent for the future.
Jeff Scholey, UK

Everyone seems to be doubting Hasim Rahmans ability. Surely he has proved by his performance against Lewis that he is up there with the best of them. Now he knows he can beat the best, this will help his confidence and I believe he will be a much better boxer as a result of this.
Tim, England

What a sad state of affairs. I prefer WWF heavyweights, at least there are a few contenders!
  Mark R, England
I cannot remember a time when the heavyweight division was so wide open. Who's the best, Rahman? Ruiz? both were handled by Tua, who was dominated by Lewis. Tyson has the aura but his other remaining skills must be questioned. Add to the list the names Klitscho, Whittaker, Johnson and, yes even the aged Holyfield remains in the picture, and you have possibly the most muddled state in the history of the division.
Philip Morgan, Usa

The Klitchko brothers are too slow and predictable, Johnson is average, Holyfield is shot, Ruiz is average, Tyson is shot, Rahman was in the right place at the right time, Tua is average, Harrison is unproven, so that leaves Lewis who can't be bothered anymore! What a sad state of affairs. I prefer WWF heavyweights, at least there are a few contenders!
Mark R, England

Lewis lost his titles through arrogance. He has the best jab and reach advantage over everyone. Tyson on the other hand, is fast and accurate, and given his chance, he will re-gain all his titles.
DK, UK England

Rahman is certainly not the best heavyweight out there. He won the lottery on Saturday. Rahman's been knocked out by David Tua, and Oleg Maskaev, he struggled against Corrie Sanders, so I don't see him holding on to his titles for long. Tyson's not the fighter he was but he should beat Rahman if they meet. When all is said and done Lewis is still the best boxing heavyweight around right now, and it will be at least two years before we see how good the next generation are.
Andy UK

Pound for pound Lewis is still up there with the best fighters. All the greats say that as a boxer he is one of the cleverest and tactically efficient boxers they have seen. So he got cocky and walked into a good punch. Wouldn't we all get cocky if we had his money and ability?
James Gibson, England
