Who will claim the Super League crown?
Who will claim the Super League crown?
React to the latest action from Super League.

HAVE YOUR SAY

In his first season with the Saints, coach Ian Millward steered the team to successfully defend their Super League crown, beating Wigan 29-16 in the 2000 Grand Final.

But the Challenge Cup holders Bradford Bulls, under new coach Brian Noble, appear to have justified their early season billing with an impressive victory the champions.

Are we to expect any surprises or shocks?

Which teams will be fighting it out in the top five play-off series come September? And which teams will be the non-starters?

Huddersfield suffered a home defeat at the hands of Halifax, but are they equipped to finish clear of the foot of the table for the first time in three seasons?

Who will claim the Super League crown?

Give us your predictions.

I think that the Saints will go marching onto victory in the super league once again this year. I do, however, grudgingly have to agree with Denis Betts and say that it will be the closest Superleague ever. I am looking forward to some class rugby for the rest of the season, especially when saints triumph over wigan at the JJB.

I fear it will again be the 'big four' with Hull, Castleford and Warrington fighting for the last play-off position
  Tim Backhouse, England
Another close season ahead. The usual four of Leeds, Bradford, Saints and Wigan are sure to dominate. Saints and Wigan look the stronges, though do Saints have the strength and class in depth to keep a sustained stranglehold on the top position? Under Endacott, Wigan have a side brimming with internationals, intelligently picked and positioned. When this side gels I think Super League will be shown some of the best rugby since the start of the competition. Wigan to win against a dark horse team in the final.
Chuck, England

As a Cas fan its clear that we will win! But as a realist, saints look to be the team to beat and as a big game side they will come good. As for us, we'll be lucky to finish in the top five, but there's always hope!
Thomas Peniston, Great Britain

I think that the bulls will try and get the title. They have two or three Aussies now and I think the Huddersfield/Sheffield giants might get off the foot of the table. Leeds and Castleford will propably make it to the play-offs but won't get the title.
Aidan Flood, England

When everything clicks the Bulls are the best team in the Super League. It will be close between them, Wigan, Leeds and Saints, but I feel this will be the year of the Bull!!
Jon, England

What a great start Saints have made

What a great start Saints have made. Their style of expansive Rugby should be an example to their rivals. I hope to see them at the top at the end of the season, but I don't think they have quality players in depth. When injuries will surely come, I don't think they will hold out. Added to that the prospect of losing Cunningham will be a great blow, but I'll still be singing. When the Saints go marching in, in Shrewsbury where I'm a supporter in exile. Come on you Saints!
Superfish, England

Big Saints fan here!! The only threat to us this year are possibly Wigan and Bradford, but I can't see us losing to them. We will win and finish top and win Super League for a third time!!..
Ian, UK

Although we allowed them far too much time and space, the way in which Bradford eased past Halifax in the cup, suggests they could well be the main rivals to Saints during the season. Other than that, I fear it will once again be between the the "big four" with Hull, Castleford and Warrington fighting for the last play-off position.
Tim Backhouse, England

Its a fight between Wigan and Saints. Wigan will get better and better as the season goes as their new signings gel with the team. All the pressure is now on Saints and I see Wigan having the edge at the end of the season. Leeds and Bradford will play a big part, but won't make the grand Final.
Andy, UK

I think Wigan will watch themselves this year, and not go all out to win the league
  Simon, Wales
I think Wigan will watch themselves this year, and not go all out to win the league. They should take a leaf out of Saint's book and concentrate only on a top two or three place finish, and build on this for the grand final. The last two teams to finish No. 1 in the league have both lost the big game in the grand final.

Saints To win all trophies and finish top of the Superleague

Leeds will win Superleague 2001
Gary Horsman, UK

It will be a close call but alas I think Wigan are going to win it this year. They have made some quality signings. Warrington will hopefully gel better this year with it being Langer's last.
James, UK

I can't see past the Saints, who are surely the best Rugby team in the country at the moment. But Leeds Rhino's may be ready to knock them off the pedal, with a team blended nicely with youngsters and experienced stars.
andy, uk

If Bradford's season mirrors their performance against Halifax, then it will take a very good side to stop them.
