Champions League - your predictions
Can an English team win in Europe?
As the Champions League enters the final round, we want your predictions on who will make it through to the quarter-finals.

Leeds are already there, but can Manchester United and Arsenal join them?

And can any of the English clubs go all the way?

HAVE YOUR SAY

Paul Scholes got Manchester United out of jail as they salvaged a point against Panathinaikos despite a poor performance.

Sir Alex Ferguson's team only need a point against Sturm Graz to reach the quarter-finals.

Arsenal's European hopes are still prospering, after a late Thierry Henry goal gave them a 1-0 win over Spartak Moscow.

But their position is the most precarious of the English teams, following Lyon's 3-0 win over group leaders Bayern Munich.

It's a three way race between Arsenal, Lyon and Bayern Munich as the Gunners travel to Germany.

Only a win will guarentee qualification for Arsenal but have they got the resolve to break down a stong Munich side?

Leeds may already be through, but did their 3-2 defeat by Real Madrid suggest the quarter-finals could be a step too far for David O'Leary's men?

Can United and Arsenal join Leeds in the next round? Can any of them go all the way? Who do you think will claim the coveted crown?

Tell us what you think. HAVE YOUR SAY

I very much doubt that Man United will win the Champions League
  Dan Cochlin, England
I think that we could definitely be seeing at least one English team in the final this year. Leeds look really strong in Europe, they always manage to put on a good performance in the big games, and they must be riding high in terms of morale after coming through two groups of death. Man Utd and Arsenal also both have the class to get there, it's just a shame that all three of them can't make it!!
Mike, UK

I am a Man Utd fan, but they simply don't look convincing anymore. They're missing that "extra something" that translates into victories for great teams. Their displays against Panathinaikos and Leeds were worrying. Believe it or not, if Arsenal get it together they could beat any team in Europe. They're so fast and creative!
Richard, Venezuela

I love it when everyone writes off Arsenal's chances. It's then that my hopes begin to rise, because that's when they are at their most dangerous. As for Bayern, they are a greatly over-rated side - Lyon thrashed them, they got out of jail at Highbury and the result against Spartak didn't do justice to the Moscow side. So they shouldn't be too confident about the result next week - it'll be a nail biter for both sides.
David, UK

Going against the trend, I very much doubt that Man United will win the Champions League. Their dominance of the Premiership is mainly due to the average opposition they face week in week out and they have allowed their complacency to get the better of them. Only against Anderlecht have we really seen their quality shine through and apart from that game they have been disappointing. Keane is still playing to a very high standard but others such as Beckham and Sheringham have been way below par recently. A much better bet for the title is the suprise package Leeds. Despite O'Leary's tedious protestations that they are not good enough, they have performed with true class and now that many of the top teams are out, Leeds can capitalise. Smith and Viduka up front unsettle any team, including Real Madrid, and their defence is one of the most solid in the competition.
Dan Cochlin, England

Thanks to Boris for his prediction on how Arsenal will fare in Germany, but I'm afraid he is slightly misguided. The Germans will be no problem for Arsenal who have been away to Lazio already this season and got a good result. He'd better hope Lyon don't beat Spartak as Munich will be out along with their "continental class."
Ben Sammons, England

Well I think Leeds United should not be undermined as they can reach the semi-finals or even finals. The question is not whether any English team will go to the finals but whether, if they do reach final, they will be able to match an expensively assembled Real Madrid team.
Peter, South Africa

I think that only Man Utd will join Leeds in the last eight. Arsenal are too erratic to do anything concrete in the Champions League
  Awe Temitope, Nigeria
Manchester United can win it if they avoid Real until the final. Utd play a rigid 4-4-2 whilst Madrid can fluently switch and change. However, in a one-off final, United would destroy Madrid.
Warren Heyman, England

The English sides have done well, but frankly are not in the class of Real. United have performed no more than adequately in the weakest group the second phase is ever likely to see. Meanwhile Real strole through a tough group. Man U may make it to the semi's but it will be the same story as last year for them.
Ian Harvey, England

Arsenal's back four is now pretty appalling. The only two good defenders they have play in the same position, meaning Silvinho and Ashley Cole. Up front they are excellent but the midfield is pretty average without Petit who is wasted at Barca. Face it, Arsenal will never get back to being as good as they were when they did the double.
Alex Allen, England

I think that only Man Utd will join Leeds in the last eight. Arsenal are too erratic to do anything concrete in the Champions League. As for winning the cup, I believe that Man Utd are England's best bet. I would not, however, doubt Leeds' ability to get to the semi-finals.
Awe Temitope, Nigeria

As a Man United fan, I probably am a bit biased but I think that the Red Devils have already proven that they have what it takes to conquer Europe at the highest level. As for Leeds and Arsenal, I think that they are on the right track especially Leeds, but not this year. But at the moment Man Utd, realistically, are England's only chance of winning the Champions League this season.
Liam Johnson, Eire

I can see the dominance of English football of the 70's and 80's on the return.
  Kristian Brown, England
Man Utd are definitely a class side and they showed their courage and commitment, when they won in 1999. Leeds and Arsenal, though they are playing well this year, will fall short again. Until Arsenal can win consistently and not just eke out half-hearted results at home, they can never be up to continental class. Bayern will beat them comfortably at home, since they are used to tough qualifying rounds. 3-0 against Lyon flattered the French side, but in Munich, Bayern will simply be too good. In Stefan Effenberg and Scholl they have one of the most creative midfields in Europe. Arsenal will have to be top notch to scrape the point.
Boris, Germany

Real Madrid are the team that most team are tipping and therefore all the pressure are on them. This helps Man Utd a great deal and they will want to prove to the rest of Europe that they are the team to beat. I can't see anyone else but Man United winning it.
Nav, UK

I think the three Spanish and three English sides will qualify, along with Bayern and Galatasary. Man Utd and Leeds both have the chance to make it all the way, as long as Leeds don't get Galatasary in the next round, where last year's memories will contribute to a poor performance. I can't see Arsenal going much further - they don't have the flair to beet any of the others over two legs.
Keith, UK

I can see the dominance of English football of the 70's and 80's on the return. Leeds and Man Utd should reach the semis at least if they keep their latest form up. However, I cannot see Arsenal getting so far. I don't doubt their ability, but they seem to lose when it matters most.
Kristian Brown, England

Real Madrid are a class above all else
  Carl Roberts, Swizterland
I've been very impressed with Leeds, they seem to be getting stronger and stronger as the season goes on, so write them off at your peril.
Marc, Norway

I'm having real problems in taking the Champions' League seriously. Arsenal win one match, draw two at home, and lose badly in Moscow yet are still in. If the Man U and Valencia games had been a two legged tie, Man U would be out on away goals. Only Leeds have really done the business. This competition is all about TV revenue rather than real competition. If you want excitement, watch the UEFA cup, until UEFA ruin that as well!
Mark B, UK

Real Madrid are a class above all else. They do the minimum to get through each stage, they can whip any team, but once they get the points they relax. Anyone of the teams who look likely to get into the last eight have the ability to beat anyone on their day, even Real Madrid. Unlikely though.
Carl Roberts, Swizterland

I think all three English clubs will qualify, but only Manchester United have a realistic chance of winning the tournament. Real Madrid are very strong and I can only really see United testing them. Lyon have also looked strong, but can they get out of their tough group?
Tony Lazarus, England
