Sport Relief is here
Some familiar faces will light up your screen
Sport Relief, Saturday 13 July, 1900 BST Live on BBC1 and BBC Sport Online.
Sport Relief takes to the airwaves on Saturday night as the world of sport unites to raise money for charity.
Around the country over the past few months thousands of people have already been collecting cash. And on Saturday night comes the grand finale as BBC One devotes the whole of the evening to making sure millions are raised for charity. There will be a glittering array of stars from the world of sport and entertainment taking part in some memorable events.
Superstars, the iconic sports show of the 1970s and 80s, returns with nine top athletes competing in a variety of disciplines. Among the stars taking part are Olympic gold medallists Sir Steve Redgrave and Stephanie Cook, football star Dwight Yorke and England rugby player Austin Healey. Another show being resurrected is Runaround, which featured school children as competitors in the 1970s.
This time Johnny Vegas is the host as seven women from the world of entertainment take part. Melinda Messenger, Helen Chamberlain, Lisa Rogers and Tamara Beckwith are among the celebrities doing their bit. Two current shows have been amalgamated for another of the evening's unusual events. They think it's all a Question of Sport features Gary Lineker, Nick Hancock, Sue Barker and celebrity host Stephen Fry. And the stars of three other TV shows will go head-to-head in Sport in the Square.
Actors from Eastenders, Holby City and Casualty will be showing off their athletic prowess as they battle it out for soap supremacy. And for those who like their sport more hard-hitting, there is a special celebrity boxing match as Les Dennis and Bob Mortimer slug it out in the ring, with Johnny Vaughan compering.
The aim of Sport Relief, which is a joint venture between BBC Sport and Comic Relief, is to help young people in the UK and around the world. Every penny raised will be used to make their lives better. So tune in on Saturday and make a donation as Sport Relief comes to town.
