'Your Song' released
Elton first recorded 'Your Song' in 1969
Elton John's revised version of 'Your Song' is now availabloe.
The new version, which contains the classical sounds of Alessandro Safina, is the official Sport Relief song. The single was recorded in April in New York and used Baz Lurhman's arrangement from Moulin Rouge The original was released in 1969 and is one of Elton's most famous records.
"I've chosen to re-record 'Your Song' for Sport Relief as I think this version with Alessandro Safina fits perfectly," said Elton. "It is inspiring that sport has the power to change lives. As a huge sports fan, I know the power and allure of sport. "People like me, who live for music and sport, can use their passion to help make real changes to the lives of others." Prestigious Alessandro made his debut UK television performance in the prestigious Andrew Lloyd Webber set on the Royal Variety Show last year and has sold one million records worldwide. All royalties from this record will go to help children at home and across the world living unimaginably tough lives. 80% will go to Sport Relief and 20% will go to The Elton John AIDS Foundation. Sport Relief is a joint venture between BBC Sport and Comic Relief with every penny raised going towards helping children and young people in the UK and around the world.
