Katie Still presents Sports Weekly every Saturday with John Beattie

Swimming is not what it used to be.

The sport has become sexy, young and star studded with events in the pool becoming something of a show!

It's great to see a sport really capturing the moment and making the most of their super stars following the Beijing Olympic success of Rebecca Adlington and of course the remarkable Michael Phelps.

People now talk about the sport and the types of suits and interest has never been greater, so this weekend it's the Duel in the Pool in Sheffield.

It's a perfect example of a sport capitalising on this wave of enthusiasm.

It's like a Ryder Cup for swimming where a team from the USA (including Phelps) take on a European team with all Britain's top swimmers competing, including Scotland's Hannah Miley.

It's a made for TV event and the swimmers are not too concerned about form, but that doesn't make them any less competitive!

It begins on Friday 18th in the evening and continues on Saturday 19th Dec and tune in to Sports Weekly on BBC Radio Scotland from 0900 that morning to hear an interview with Michael Phelps himself!
