The writer and broadcaster Bob Crampsey has died, aged 78, after a long illness. Here are some of the tributes from leading figures in Scottish sport.
BBC SPORTSOUND ANCHOR RICHARD GORDON
"Bob had the sharpest mind of anyone I have ever known. He was a genius.
"It was such a joy working with him. If anything historical ever came up during a programme, Bob could describe not only the match in question but name the referee and give the size of the crowd. He was a real football man.
"Once, when we were on a flight to Wales to cover an Aberdeen match, I kept throwing topics at him just to see how broad his knowledge was. He could give a discourse for 10 minutes on any subject I cared to mention."
SFA CHIEF EXECUTIVE GORDON SMITH
"I will remember him with great affection and respect too. He was a wonderful person to work with when I came on to BBC Radio Sportsound in 1993.
"It was an honour to work with Bob. He was so intelligent and his knowledge of the game was fantastic. I learned a lot from working with him."
BBC SCOTLAND CONTROLLER KEN MacQUARRIE
"Bob wasn't just knowledgeable about sport but a vast range of subjects, from poetry to American musicals, from Shakespeare to the cultures of anywhere from Andalucia to the Andes.
"He was a wonderful broadcaster and a wonderful writer. It was always a pleasure to be in his company and he will be greatly missed."
BBC RADIO SCOTLAND PUNDIT MURDO McLEOD
"Bob was always on hand to give you advice early on in your broadcasting career. He was just a really nice man.
"He was very well respected. The players knew about his great knowledge. If anyone wanted the answer to a football question, they would phone or write to Bob.
"He was always spot on with his answers. Every game he was at, he was always very honest, never biased and always gave his opinion."
FORMER PRESENTER ARTHUR MONTFORD
"It is terribly sad news that we have lost Bob.
"I have many happy memories and can pay him no higher compliment than to say that he was a consummate broadcaster."
