Tommy Burns - A life in pictures

After signing from junior team Maryhill, Tommy Burns enjoyed a 14-year playing career with Celtic

Burns made more than 350 league appearances for Celtic, scoring 52 goals and winning six titles, three Scottish Cups and one League Cup

After leaving Celtic, Burns joined Kilmarnock, where he would eventually become player/manager and lead the side into the SPL

Burns became Celtic manager in 1994 with Billy Stark (right) as his assistant and the club won the Scottish Cup a few months later

Burns left Celtic in 1997 and briefly worked at Newcastle before, as pictured here, working as Reading manager between 1998 and 1999

Burns returned to Celtic as a coach in 2000 and moved into a youth development role after Martin O'Neill's arrival as manager

Burns joined the Scotland set-up as assistant to manager Berti Vogts (left) in 2002 while maintaining his role with Celtic

Following Vogts' resignation, Burns remained part of the national team set-up with Walter Smith (left)

Burns returned to working with the first-team after Gordon Strachan (right) became Celtic manager in 2006
