Keepers join Raith and Brechin
Ramiro Gonzalez in action for Airdrieonians
Ramiro Gonzalez is with his third Scottish club
Raith Rovers have signed goalkeeper Ramiro Gonzalez as Second Division rivals Brechin City added two new players to their promotion challenge.

Scotland Under-21 goalkeeper Derek Soutar arrives on loan from Dundee and former Ross County defender Paul Deas will also be at Glebe Park until the end of the season.

Argentinian Gonzalez played alongside Rovers player-boss Antonio Calderon at Airdrieonians, making eight appearances.

He also made three appearances for Ross County last year but now has the chance to impress in Kirkcaldy on a short-term deal.

Rovers chairman Danny Smith said: "Ramiro played in a closed-door game down at Kilmarnock and Antonio was happy with what he saw, so we've signed him for the rest of the season."

Gonzalez is seen as back-up for first-choice Raul.

Raith has also farmed winger Sean Paliczka to junior side Newtongrange Star.

Meanwhile, Soutar, currently second choice at his Scottish Premier League club, arrived in Brechin as manager Dick Campbell told goalkeeper Mark Cairns that he could leave the club.

Deas, who was County's only part-time player, fell out of favour after Alex Smith took over in Dingwall.

The 30-year-old, previously with Stirling Albion, St Johnstone and Livingston, joined First Division County from Partick Thistle last summer and made 17 appearances this season.

Smith has steadily changed the squad at Victoria Park, 22-year-old Greece Under-21 midfielder Tassos Venetis being his first major signing.

Foward David Winters also arrived from Dundee United, this time on loan, as has midfielder Kevin McLeish from Dunfermline Athletic.

Team captain Steven Ferguson and striker Alex Bone have been told that, like Deas, they can leave County on free transfers.
