Pars ostracise Rossi

Youssef Rossi (left) is seen as disruptive
Moroccan international Youssef Rossi looks to have played his last game for Dunfermline Athletic.

The 29-year-old defender has had a troublesome time at East End Park and was left behind while the Pars started their pre-season preparations in New Zealand.

Dunfermline chairman John Yorkston has revealed that manager Jimmy Calderwood has lost patience with Rossi.

"He's still a Dunfermline player, but Jimmy didn't take him on tour," Yorkston told The Herald.

Youssef is a square peg in a round hole

Pars chairman John Yorkston
"He's had a number of chances and that's it.

"Jimmy wants to try to build up team spirit on the pre-season trips and Youssef is a square peg in a round hole."

Rossi has often been seen as a disruptive influence since his arrival from French club Rennes.

He arrived late for pre-season training last year after trying to manufacture a transfer away from Dunfermline.

Pars no longer want midfielder David Hopkin
Meanwhile, Yorkston admitted that the Pars had now ended their interest in Scotland midfielder David Hopkin, who had wanted to buy out the remainder of his contract with Crystal Palace.

Dunfermline are also not pursuing their interest in Australian trialists Marcus Stergiopolous and Michael Cartwright.

The pair from Northern Spirit had been involved as Dunfermline lost 1-0 and 4-2 to the New Zealand national side then defeated the CMG All Stars league select 2-1.

Melbourne-born wing back Stergiopolous holds a British passport and has previously been on the books of Bradford City and Lincoln City.

Dunfermline play the first match of the Dutch part of their pre-season trip against RKC Waalwijk in Mierlo on Tuesday.
