Rovers go for Calderon
Jesus San Juan and Antonio Calderon join Kilmarnock

Raith Rovers have appointed Antonio Calderon as their new manager.

The 35-year-old Spaniard was with Kilmarnock last season, but was released by the Rugby Park club in order to make the move to Kirkcaldy.

Calderon, who has no coaching experience, will be assisted by countryman Paquito as Rovers hope to bounce straight back into the First Division.

Paquito was one of the few bright lights in a miserable last season for Rovers and has been a big hit with supporters since his arrival from Las Palmas in November.

Calderon was one of several Spanish players taken to Airdrieonians by Steve Archibald.

The midfielder moved to Killie along with Jesus Sanjuan last year after the collapse of Archibald's bid to buy over the Lanarkshire club.

Jocky Scott was at the helm at Stark's Park when Rovers were relegated, with the former Notts County manager taking over the ailing club from Peter Hetherston in January.

Calderon saw off competition from a short-list of five, which included Cowdenbeath manager Keith Wright and Ray Stewart, formerly at Livingston and Stirling Albion.
