Heenan offered Celtic trial

Heenan has been attracting plenty of attention
Arbroath winger Kevin Heenan has been offered a week's trial with Celtic after continuing last season's good form at the beginning of this campaign.

The 19-year-old will arrive at Celtic Park a week on Monday where he will get the chance to impress Martin O'Neill.

Aberdeen had considered a move for Heenan during the summer, but opted for the experience of Ben Thornley instead.

But Arbroath manager John Brownlie said he was confident the player had what it takes to secure a move to Glasgow.

One for the future

"I can see him impressing them and there's no doubt he has the ability to succeed, but like everything else it depends on what they're looking for," said Brownlie.

"He's got a good temperament and he seems to be a level-headed young lad with his feet on the ground.

"Obviously Aberdeen decided against taking him on, but they were after more experience at that time. Hopefully it'll be second time lucky for him."

Brownlie would not be drawn on the kind of figure Arbroath would be looking for if Celtic should follow up their interest.

"He's without a doubt one for the future, but I couldn't honestly comment about how much we would want for him," he added.

"That's up to Celtic to make their valuation on him, but we'll just wait and see."
