Old Glasgow rivals meet in cup
Harry Cairney (Brechin), Jack Ross (Clyde), Willie Irvine (Alloa) and Sandy Stewart (Airdrie)
Clyde and Partick Thistle will roll back the years when they meet in the quarter finals of the Bell's Challenge Cup.
The clubs meet in a revival of what used to be Glasgow's second-biggest derby when both sides were challenging for honours in the old First Division. Neither side has hit the heights in recent years and Clyde have moved from their old Shawfield ground to Broadwood in Cumbernauld. Thistle won 5-3 after extra-time against Raith Rovers in their second round tie on Tuesday evening, while Clyde eased past Berwick Rangers in a 5-0 win. It is the only all-First Division tie. The other matches pair Ross County with Brechin City, crisis clubs Clydebank and Airdrieonians, while Stranraer will visit Alloa in an all-Second Division tie.
Ross County v Brechin City Ties will be played on Tuesday 21 August.
