Amoruso to sign new deal
Amoruso has often seemed on the verge of leaving Ibrox
Amoruso has often seemed on the verge of leaving Ibrox
Rangers defender Lorenzo Amoruso has indicated that he intends to pledge his long-term future to the Ibrox club.

The Italian has been the subject of transfer speculation for over a year now, but no move has materialised and he now seems content to play out his top-level career in Glasgow.

The 30-year-old has one year remaining on his contract and he could extend that by two years.

Contractual negotiations were put on hold while Amoruso recovered from an injury picked up at the start of the season, but he says he hopes to sign a new contract shortly.

We have made him an offer - he has to decide whether it is right for him

"Everything is going well in negotiations and I hope to sign in the next three weeks," he said on Rangers' official website.

"We have been talking and I'd like to think the situation will be resolved soon.

"It has been a frustrating time for me after suffering an injury in the first game of the season, but I'm very close to full fitness now and I would hope to be available for the Hibs game.

"We decided to hold off the contract talks until I was back to fitness and in the team again so it should not be long before I meet with the chairman."

Murray said: "We have had a meeting with Lorenzo already and we have made him an offer. He has to decide whether it is right for him."

With Amoruso hoping to return to first-team action on Saturday, Rangers' early season injury crisis looks like easing.

Claudio Reyna is also eyeing a comeback in that game and Ronald de Boer should start after suffering no ill effects following his substitute appearance last weekend against Dunfermline.

Rangers also hope to have defender Craig Moore back quicker than thought - his knee injury is not a recurrence of last season's problem and he could return within two weeks.
