Long-term Celtic absentees Morten Wieghorst and Stilian Petrov continued their rehabilitation towards first-team involvement as both played in a friendly match on Monday.

Wieghorst, who has not played for almost a year after being struck down with a rare condition which affects the brain, scored twice in a 4-0 win over Stenhousemuir.

The Dane made his comeback in a pre-season tour of Ireland and could re-enter Martin O'Neill's plans in the near future.

Petrov suffered a broken leg towards the end of last season but has made remarkable progress over the summer and played his first comeback game last week.

Outcast striker Mark Burchill scored the game's other two goals.

New signing Steve Guppy, who made his first-team debut as a substitute on Saturday against Hearts, also played.
