Re-united: Dawson, McPherson and Ferguson
The first round of this season's CIS Insurance League Cup has paired two of Scotland's financially-stricken clubs.

Morton face an away tie against former First Division rivals Airdrieonians in what is likely to be the game of the round.

Both sides have faced bankruptcy recently and their futures remain uncertain.

Airdrie started the season with a 2-2 draw at home to Raith Rovers, while Morton recorded an impressive 4-1 win against Stenhousemuir in Division Two.

New Morton player-assistant manager Dave McPherson was at the draw to promote the competition and was re-united with fellow former Rangers men Ally Dawson and Derek Ferguson.

Dawson is now manager at Hamilton Academical, who were drawn against one the clubs they replaced in the Second Division, Queen's Park.

Ferguson is the new boss of Clydebank and the Second Division club were handed a local derby away to Third Division Dumbarton.

Eight Division One sides take part in the first round, with St Mirren and Ayr United given byes.
