Celtic striker Henrik Larsson has won the Scottish Players' Player of the Year award.

The Swedish hot-shot, who scored his 50th goal of the season in the club's 3-0 win at Rangers, was the clear favourite to pick up the prize which is voted for by his fellow professionals.

After a horrendous previous season, spending much of it recovering from a broken leg, Larsson helped Martin O'Neill's side to the Scottish Premier and CIS Cup titles this year.

The striker is also set for an appearance for Celtic in their Scottish Cup final clash, next month

Celtic's Stilian Petrov

"We had a great result on Sunday afternoon and played very well," said Larsson.

"Then to come here to pick up this award is great.

"I have to thank the lads for making it able for me to score the goals I've been scoring this season."

There was further joy for the Bhoys when Stilian Petrov was voted the Young Player of the Year.

"Celtic played very well to win the game today," he said.

"The supporters were happy but I am also happy because I have won the Young Player award.

"That means a lot to me and it gives me a lift to play even better next season."

Livingston striker David Bingham picked up the First Division award, in a season which has seen his team win promotion to the SPL.

"This is tremendous. It is the culmination of a hard season," he said.

"We deserved to win the league and it is a crowning glory to be nominated by your fellow pros to be the best player in the division.

"There are a lot of good players in this league and we have got a few in our team. To win it is tremendous and I am actually quite choked."

Partick Thistle striker Scott McLean took the Second Division award after helping his side to the championship while Steve Hislop of East Stirling took the Division Three award
