Griffiths penalised for Hamilton challenge

Ospreys prop Cai Griffiths has received a four-week suspension from a Welsh Rugby Union disciplinary panel.

The tight-head, 26, was cited for a breach of law 10.4 (dangerous play) after Sunday's 33-17 loss in Edinburgh.

Caernarfon-man Griffiths came on as a 57th-minute replacement for Craig Mitchell at Murrayfield.

He was penalised six minutes later for a clash with Edinburgh replacement Craig Hamilton, who was stretchered off and required hospital treatment.

The 30-year-old Scotland lock had a precautionary x-ray, before being given the all clear.

Griffiths' offence was deemed in the mid range of sanctions by the WRU panel, chaired by Terry Vaux.

The prop will be free to return from Friday, 9 April.
