Former Swansea and Wales hooker Garin Jenkins has been named as elite youth development officer at the Ospreys. The 42-year-old has been involved in the development of young talent at the Ospreys since their inception in 2003. The new role will see him interacting with clubs and organisations across the region to identify talent that may have been overlooked by the existing system. "What this position gives me is a clarity that will enable me to create solid foundations," said Jenkins. Jenkins, the last miner to play for Wales, is his country's most-capped hooker with 58 appearances. As a Pontypool player he made his Wales debut in 1991 against France, earning a place in the World Cup squad that year and playing against Western Samoa, Argentina and Australia. Jenkins joined Swansea soon afterwards, and went on to play for Wales at the 1995 and 1999 world cups. He retired from international duty in 2000, but continued to ply his trade at St Helen's until he quit on medical advice in 2002.
