Former Cardiff and Wales A forward Howard Stone has taken over as head coach at Cardiff RFC.
Stone was assistant to former coach Mike Rayer, who announced this week he was leaving the Arms Park to take the director of rugby spot at Bedford.
Cardiff will be advertising for a backs coach to work alongside Stone.
"I'm a very proud man to be given this role and I'm looking forward to the challenge, we are stressing the importance of continuity," said Stone.
Blues chief executive Robert Norster welcomed the appointment.
"I played alongside Howard for several seasons, often together as locks, and I am well aware of his qualities," said the former Wales and Lions second row.
"He is a true Blue & Black and a club stalwart.
"It has been a pleasure to see him develop as a coach, right through the youth and under-21 levels at the Arms Park, and he fully deserves the opportunity to be in charge of the club side in the Premier Division.
"At the same time I wish Mike Rayer all the best as he moves on to be director of rugby at Bedford."
