Connacht (17) 24:
Tries: Myburgh, Lacey
Pens: Warwick 3, McHugh
Edinburgh (14) 35:
Tries: Di Rollo, Blackadder, Jacobsen, Laney, Webster
Cons: Paterson 5
Edinburgh received a massive boost ahead of Friday's Heineken Cup trip to Perpignan as they ran in five tries against Connacht at the Sportsground.
Marcus Di Rollo, Todd Blackadder, Allan Jacobsen, Brendan Laney and Simon Webster all touched down with Chris Paterson converting all five tries.
Connacht scored tries through Peter Myburgh and Matt Lacey along with three Paul Warwick penalties.
It was Edinburgh's first win away from home since last April.
Connacht had moved into a 9-0 lead in the 19th minute with three penalties by Warwick.
New Zealander Laney, 31 next month, was the link when he flicked a pass
for centre Di Rollo to scamper over from 10 metres out. Chris Paterson duly
converted for a two-point deficit.
A booming clearance kick from Mark McHugh on the half-hour set up Connacht for their first try as South African prop Myburgh bundled his 6ft 6ins frame over in the left corner.
Edinburgh drew level in first half injury time when captain Blackadder touched down after Myburgh was mismatched against full-back Derrick Lee.
A lengthy McHugh penalty edged Connacht back in front before the turn around.
Prop Jacobsen then gave the Gunners a lead they
failed to relinquish with Laney allowed the freedom of Galway to score a breakaway and winger Webster clean through for the vital bonus points.
Paterson bagged his fifth of five successful
conversion before flanker Lacey gave Connacht some late hope which did not materialise.
