Hadden ready for more from Scots
Scotland coach Frank Hadden and skipper Chris Paterson celebrate victory
Hadden celebrates victory with skipper Chris Paterson
Scotland coach Frank Hadden feels the 21-9 victory over Wales will give his side a strong platform to build on in this season's RBS Six Nations.

"What winning does for your confidence is just immense," he told BBC Sport.

"There's a lot of pressure on the boys and I'm just proud of the way they controlled the game. I felt the better side won on the day.

"And when you see some of our most experienced players coming back from injury, there's more to come."

Hadden gave "little cameo roles" off the bench to Nathan Hines, Ally Hogg, and Simon Webster in the second half.

Hines, who replaced James Hamilton in the second row, went close to scoring on two occasions but was held up short both times.

Scotland's lack of a try was the only thing that frustrated Hadden, who saw his skipper Chris Paterson kick seven penalties from seven attempts to seal the win.

"There was only one side which looked like scoring tries today and that was us," he added.

"It was disappointing not to nail that down."

Scotland flanker Simon Taylor said a win was paramount as the squad did not want to head into their showdown with Italy in a fortnight effectively playing to avoid the wooden spoon.

"Going into that game with two losses wouldn't have made for the nicest couple of weeks," said Taylor, who won his 50th cap and was named man of the match.

"We just managed to eke it out. It certainly wasn't the best of games."
