The 2003 World Cup looks set to be Hodges' international swansong, having notched up 50 Test caps in the process.
Currently with Welsh side Llanelli, the 35-year-old captain of the national side lacks some of the pace of his earlier career.
But his tactical brain makes him a major asset to both the Eagles and Llanelli, where he was player of the season in 2001/2.
He played a crucial role as the US booked their place in the World Cup, scoring the opening try against rivals Spain.
Hodges remains a very versatile player, who could be employed at lock, flanker or number eight.
