Rudi van Vuuren
Rudi van Vuuren
Born: 20/9/72
Position: Fly-half
Team: Windhoek Wanderers
Debut: 15/06/97 v Zimbabwe
Past World Cups: 1999
Did you know? Has eight wickets in one-day cricket internationals
The Namibian team might not be so well known outside their own country, but a familiar face to many discerning sports fans will be Rudi van Vuuren.

Not only did he take part in the 1999 tournament, but earlier this year played in the Cricket World Cup, becoming the first man to represent his country at both events.

Since then, the 31-year-old fly-half, or inside centre, has been piling on the pounds in preparation for his second Rugby World Cup.

A solid defender and versatile all-rounder, Van Vuuren forms an effective partnership with Windhoek Wanderers team-mate and Namibia captain Corne Powell.

As a doctor, Van Vuuren also shares the same profession as Powell, meaning Namibia is likely to be the only team with two GPs in their backline at the tournament.
