Doviverata has risen up the ranks in a relatively short space of time to become the captain of his country.
He made his debut against Spain in 1999 at the expense of the Seta Tawake, who picked up an injury.
But it was not until the following year and under the coaching influence of Greg Smith that Doviverata earned a regular place in the Fiji side.
He scored his first try against Canada in the June of that year.
Being Fijian, Doviverata is also very adept at playing the sevens game.
He missed out on the World Cup Sevens a couple of years ago but came back to star in the Hong Kong and Shanghai tournaments.
In 2001, the 6ft 3in player took over the captaincy of the full side for the European tour and also skippered the team during their series against Tonga this year.
