Did you know? Plays club rugby in New Zealand
Having made his international bow against Canada in 1999, he scored a World Cup try against the same opponents months later.
That effort put him in the public eye and, as a result, the Canterbury Crusaders came calling.
He helped his new team to the Super 12 title in his first campaign and became the Crusaders' record try scorer in a season with 11.
However, 12 months on his second season was hindered by a neck injury which kept him sidelined.
But further strong showings in 2002 and 2003 with the Crusaders show his strength against some of club rugby's best defences.
