Clockwatch: NZ 91-7 Tonga

All the action from this Pool D encounter.

80 mins: Tonga's onslaught is over as the referee blows for full-time.

78 mins: Tonga are truly a shambles now. Howlett is the man that picks the gap once more for his 28th try in 34 internationals. MacDonald kicks to take his points tally to 29 for the night. New Zealand 91-7 Tonga

75 mins: For the second time in three minutes, Muliaina and Howlett find themselves clear on the try line. Howlett very nearly messes the whole thing up but just about gathers it for arguably the night's least glamourous try. MacDonald's breathtaking kicking display continues. New Zealand 84-7 Tonga

72 mins: Muliaina outsprints team-mate Howlett for the game's 11th try as MacDonald kicks clear.
New Zealand 77-7 Tonga

69 mins: After 10 minutes without a score, MacDonald finally adds to the tally. Linking delightfully with Carter, he cuts inside to score, dragging a few tacklers with him.
New Zealand 70-7 Tonga

67 mins: The normally slick All Blacks appear to be having a bit of a shocker with the ball in hand. Knock-ons and poorly flung passes are part and parcel of their game today. In the midst of it, Va'enuku is sin-binned. It's unclear why exactly.

65 mins: So'oailo is not doing his cause any good as he spills the ball once more. The excuse of the weather won't work for his team-mates.

62 mins: Richie McCaw and Dave Hewett come on for Reuben Thorne and Greg Somerville respectively.

61 mins: Spencer deftly chips the ball ahead. MacDonald tumbles as he gathers and the pitch is so wet he slides for five metres along the surface. Sadly for him he marginally knocks it on just shy of the try line.

58 mins: Greg Somerville celebrates a try only for the referee to whistle for an earlier knock-on.

57 mins: Muliaina breaks from halfway, steps off his left foot and jigs his way past six wannabe tacklers. A superb score.
New Zealand 63-7 Tonga

55 mins: Marty Holah comes on for Braid as the spirited Tongans force New Zealand back.

53 mins: The biggest cheer of the night goes up as Hola slides in. The Tongan fly-half quite beautifully intercepts a Marshall pass and skids in. Tu'ipulotu converts.
New Zealand 56-7 Tonga

51 mins: Referee Chris White gets increasingly exasperated with Tonga's illegal efforts to stop New Zealand scoring. He duly awards a penalty try. MacDonald seals his seventh successful kick of the night, out of seven.
New Zealand 56-0 Tonga

50 mins: So'oailo produces his second knock-on of the night in a scoring position. An earlier offence by Tonga, though, gives his side a penalty.

45 mins: Maul after maul leaves Tonga in complete disarray. They hold their ground for a time but eventually it all becomes too much and Kees Meeuws gets his first try of the night.
New Zealand 49-0 Tonga

41 mins: Try number one of the half takes just 39 seconds for Ralph as he darts and dances his way past some gobsmacked Tongan defenders.
New Zealand 42-0 Tonga

41 mins: The second half gets under way as the heavens open. Spencer restarts the contest in absolutely torrential rain. Gus Leger and Sateki Tu'ipulotu come on for Tonga from the replacements' bench

40 mins: The Tongans can at least look forward to 10 minutes out of their own half as the whistle goes for half-time.

39 mins: Tonga are all too readily going in with the high tackles. Mils Muliaina is the latest All Black attacker to be throttled round the neck.

36 mins: Minutes after being a Kiwi star, Spencer messes up an attempted catch and gifts Tonga an attacking line-out position. Somehow the referee decides it's an All Black throw-in.

34 mins: Ralph chips and charges only for Sila Va'enuku to gather it. But the Tongan full-back spills it over his line and Spencer scores. MacDonald maintains his 100% kicking record in the game.
New Zealand 35-0 Tonga

32 mins: Tonga revel in the rarity of an attack but they struggle to find a way over the gain line. You get the feeling it's just not going to be their day.

27 mins: The All Blacks' try conveyor belt keeps on running. This time Ralph takes the glory after a string of rolling mauls.
New Zealand 28-0 Tonga

25 mins: New Zealand's backs are on their merry way once again. This time Caleb Ralph can't outdo his opposite number.

22 mins: Corey Flynn notches up the game's third try on his son's birthday. The All Blacks simply spread the ball down the line and Flynn is the lucky recipient at the end of it.
New Zealand 21-0 Tonga

20 mins: Hooker Viliami Ma'asi pegs his ears back and sprints down the touchline. But his face is a picture of disappointment as the referee calls him back for an earlier knock-on.

16 mins: An absolutely breathtaking score by New Zealand as they whip the ball quickly from a stolen line-out. Doug Howlett produces a perfect chip ahead which Daniel Carter gathers and touches down. Spencer has a go at the conversion and it works.
New Zealand 14-0 Tonga

15 mins: Justin Marshall ambitiously kids himself he can bulldoze his way past a trio of Tongan forwards. He learns his lesson as he is brought crashing to the ground.

13 mins: The All Blacks are oddly falling foul of a few knock-ons. Rodney So'oailo is the latest villain in the midst of an attacking move.

10 mins: The monstrous Tongan forwards ensure they make their mark on the opposition pack, but concede another penalty in the process. Spencer once more smacks it into line-out danger territory.

7 mins: Try one of the game. A line-out on the Tongan line paves the way for an All Black drive forward. Daniel Braid is the man with the ball in hand as they bundle over. Today's kicker of choice, Leon MacDonald, starts with a successful conversion. New Zealand 7-0 Tonga

5 mins: Tonga's enthusiasm gets the better of them as Stanley Afeaki is picked out for going over the top. Carlos Spencer overdoes his kick past the Tongan try line and the Pacific Islanders earn themselves a scrum.

2 mins: Sila Va'enuku tries to get Tonga off to a bright start with a drop goal after two All Black errors. His attempt, though, is truly pitiful.

0837 BST: Pierre Hola smacks the kick-off deep into New Zealand territory as the Tongan forwards charge on.

0835 BST: The two sides come face to face for their pre-match war dances - a fearsome sight.
