Clockwatch: Argentina 50-3 Romania

All the action from the Pool A match in Sydney.

80mins: The whistle goes for full-time with Argentina convincing, if scrappy, winners.

79mins: Argentina pile on the pressure as they continually scramble their way to the Romanian line. But it marginally fails to click.

77mins: Argentina attempt to drive their way over the try line for a third time. It fails and Tofan receives a massive cheer as he kicks it clear.

73mins: Romania keep on pushing to the death, kicking a penalty for a line-out deep in Puma territory. For once, their solid jumpers let them down.

71mins: Argentina look far more accomplished now, although Ledesma's line-out throwing is showing no signs of improving.

67mins: Hernadez makes amends for his earlier effort with a searing burst of pace to fly into the far right-hand corner. That doesn't affect Quesada's spot kick.
Argentina 50-3 Romania

65mins: Hernandez decides against taking the mark in his 22, instead running intelligently towards the halfway line. But a knock forward brings it all crumbling to a halt.

62mins: Agustin Pichot, Argentina's captain, joins the game for the final 20 minutes. Straight away he screams Bouza all the way to the try line, the bulky number eight touching down once more from a good pack drive. Gonzalo Quesada, on for Juan Fernandez Miranda, converts.
Argentina 43-3

61mins: Piossek comes within a whisker of his first try of the game but is held up by some last-ditch Romanian defence. A well-worked move by the Pumas nonetheless.

59mins: Argentina fluff their latest scoring opportunity as Ledesma ruins yet another line-out. He looks to be playing himself out of contention to face Ireland.

57mins: Cristian Sauan comes on for Valentina Maftei in the game's latest substitution. Immediately Argentina get a penalty and kick for the corner.

53mins: Romania refuse to be deterred by the deficit and unleash a string of stinging attacking moves. Marian Tudori is the chief protagonist but sadly for him it comes to nothing.

51mins: Argentina are penalised for holding on. Tofan removes his headguard and goes for goal. It cruises over.
Argentina 36-3 Romania

48mins: Argentina's pack forces its way over the Romanian try line. The ball is held up but, at the resulting scrum, Pablo Bouza pounces for another try.
Argentina 36-0 Romania

47mins: Romania's first attacking chance of the half comes courtesy of Romeo Gontineac but ends in disarray as his support players go over the top.

45mins: Ledesma, who had a shocker with his throw-ins against Australia, is no better today.

41mins: It takes no time at all for Argentina to score. Nicolas Fernandez Miranda charges down Tofan's clearance kick and then bundles over for the try. His brother slots over the conversion. Argentina 31-0 Romania

41mins: Play resumes through Juan Fernandez Miranda, with the crowd hoping for a more fluent, less error-strewn spectacle.

39mins: Romania aim to go into the half-time break with all guns blazing but a spilt ball gifts the Pumas another try-scoring chance. Manuel Contempomi is the scavenger in question, scooping up the ball and forcing his way over.
Argentina 24-0 Romania

37mins: At times, the game resembles junior rugby, with a melee of players following the ball across the field.

33mins: Juan Fernandez Miranda and Brezoainu enjoy a spot of kicking ping-pong, which paves the way for an Argentine penalty. Fernandez Miranda succeeds with it.
Argentina 17-0 Romania

29mins: After a string of errors by both sides - Argentina in particular - the Pumas make amends with try two. Juan Martinez Hernandez latches onto a Juan Fernandez Miranda kick ahead and does just enough to score. Fernandez Miranda converts.
Argentina 14-0 Romania

26mins: Nicolas Fernandez Miranda goes for a drop goal but all it does is give the ball away to Romania - a recurring theme.

25mins: Romania are punished for some wrongdoing in the line-out. Juan Fernandez Miranda produces a diabolical penalty attempt in return.

23mins: Juan Fernandez Miranda forces another Romania line-out deep into Oaks territory, but Tofan hoofs the ball into touch. Panic over.

21mins: Argentina three times have the ball ripped off them in quick succession in open play. Worrying signs in preparation for the Ireland game at the weekend.

18mins: Juan Fernandez Miranda unleashes a poor boot deep into Romanian territory but he is let off when Ioan Teodorescu knocks an easy take forward.

15mins: In a flash, Gabriel Brezoainu turns defence into attack with a monstrous kick upfield.

14mins: Argentina's opening try paves the way for a string of breaks. Jose Nunez Piossek weaves his way down the right flank but is brought down. With that, the attack halts.

11mins: Martin Gaitan becomes the joint top try scorer of the tournament with his fourth try. He produces a delightfully angled run to take Juan Fernandez Miranda's pop-up pass to leave the Oaks trailing. Fernandez Miranda adds the conversion.
Argentina 7-0 Romania

9mins: Argentina enjoy their best break to date as Martin Durand storms through from the back of a line-out. But as the Pumas spread it wide, Mario Ledesma knocks it forward in the tackle.

6mins: Juan Fernandez Miranda goes for a snap drop goal. It heads wide.

5mins: Argentina launch their first real attack of the night. Santiago Phelan takes it through a brace of Romanians. He is illegally stopped from releasing the ball and wins a penalty as a result. Juan Fernandez Miranda kicks for touch.

3mins: Tofan unleashes two superb high kicks deep into Argentine territory to put the Puma defenders immediately under pressure. Once more the boot of Fernandez Miranda saves them.

1min: Juan Fernandez Miranda immediately clears any potential danger with a massive boot to touch.

1138 BST: Romanian number 10 Ionut Tofan sends the kick-off sailing towards the Argentine forwards.
