55 mins: Tonga captain Inoke Afeaki crashes heavily to the ground after trying to tackle Italian prop Andrea Lo Cicero, and is stretchered off with a head injury.

54 mins: Tonga bring on former Harlequins centre Johnny Ngauamo in place of Gus Leger.

50 mins: Andrea De Rossi drives Italy to within sight of the Tonga line, and Rima Wakarua commits several defenders before sending centre Manuel Dallan in for Italy's first try. Wakarua adds the conversion to stretch Italy's lead to nine.

31 mins: Tonga waste a four-to-one overlap on the right flank but win a penalty which they opt to kick to touch rather than at goal.

29 mins: Andrea De Rossi and Sergio Parisse, part of an impressive Italian back row, charge deep into Tongan territory where Sateki Tu'ilupotu commits a high tackle on Italian prop Martin Castrogiovanni. Rima Wakarua dispenses punishment with his third penalty.

24 mins: Tonga win another penalty on the Italian 22 but Sateki Tu'ilupotu again drags his attempt wide.

21 mins: Tonga, despite plenty of possession, are struggling to make headway against a solid Italian defence.
