Darren Cave prepares to tackle Gordon D'Arcy at Ravenhill
|
Leinster came from behind to overcome Irish provincial rivals Ulster in their Magners League derby at Ravenhill.
Ulster led 7-3 at half-time, Darren Cave scoring a try which was converted by Ian Humphreys, and Felipe Contepomi landing a penalty for the visitors.
Rocky Elsom and Simon Keogh scored second-half tries for Leinster, Contepomi adding one conversion.
The Argentine also kicked two penalties after the break and Humphreys added two penalties for Ulster.
Contepomi registered the first score of the game with a seventh-minute penalty but then missed with his second attempt soon after.
Cave finished off a fine move involving Isaac Boss, Humphreys and Paddy Wallace by crossing the Leinster line after 25 minutes, Humphreys converting.
Elsom touched down four minutes after the interval to edge Leinster ahead and Contepomi added the two points to make it 10-7.
Fly-half Humphreys was just off-target with a penalty attempt but made amends by striking the ball between the posts five minutes later.
Contepomi restored his side's advantage with another successful penalty effort but Humphreys again replied to level the scores.
Keogh dived over in the corner with ten minutes remaining for the decisive score of the match.
Gordon D'Arcy made good ground and Contepomi ultimately delivered the vital pass for Keogh to score.
The visiting fly-half missed the conversion but then kicked a penalty to put the match beyond Ulster's reach and deny the home side a losing bonus point.
The result moves Leinster up to third in the table while Ulster lie seventh in the standings.
