Gaskell scored his first try for the Sharks last season against Cardiff

Sale Sharks have appointed 20-year-old James Gaskell as captain for the new Premiership season. Gaskell becomes the youngest captain in the club's history at 20 years and 106 days old. The flanker came through the academy at Sale and made his senior debut against Cardiff Blues in October 2008. He was named the club's players' player of the year last season and will lead out his side for the first time against Newcastle Falcons on Friday.
