Schofield will link up with former Sale boss Philippe Saint-Andre in France
Sale captain Dean Schofield has agreed a two-year deal with French club Toulon starting from next season.
The 31-year-old second row will link up with England fly-half Jonny Wilkinson and his former Sale boss Philippe Saint-Andre at the French side.
Schofield, who has won two England caps, made his Sale debut in 2001.
Schofield said: "I have just turned 31 years of age, and the opportunity to join Toulon gives me a chance to play in the French Top 14."
He joins a number of England internationals plying their trade in France, following the likes of Wilkinson, Riki Flutey, James Haskell, Steve Thompson and Jamie Noon.
Schofield made his England debut against South Africa in 2007 but never managed to cement a regular spot in the national side.
He added: "I have made so many friends while playing for Sale Sharks and I am sure that, in years to come, I will be back sat in the stands watching the team play.
"I may have signed for Toulon, but there is a lot of rugby to be played this season and I am looking to finish my Sale Sharks career winning as many games as possible."
